Administrators of Hawaii

The Hawaiian islands have been inhabited for many centuries and thus the face of the leadership there has evolved over the years. The evidence of people on the islands dates back to about 4 century AD. The earliest group of people that formed a society in Hawaii were the Polynesians from the Marquesas and it is believed that their dwellings were built in the area between 300 to 500 AD.

Thus the advent of Polynesians in the volcanic islands marks the beginning of the journey of human civilization on the present day United State's State of Hawaii. The Royal Hawaiian Lineage was then established after the steady growth of population and the earliest official administrators of the region were the local chiefs for their individual group of people or areas. These chiefs were called aliis and they believed in fighting for their survival.

The initial contact of the islands with the European travelers happened in the year 1778 with the arrival of James Cook and he called the islands the Sandwich Islands and in his official publication referred to them as Owyhee.

After an era of battle the islands were all unified under a single ruler called the King Kamehameha, the Great. His reign dates from the year 1810 to the year 1872 and his establishment was called the House of Kamehameha.

Then came the Bayonet Constitution which was replaced in the year 1893 after stumble of the Hawaiian monarchy and a provisional government was formed in the area by the members of the Committee of Safety.
