Geographical importance of Hawaii

The state is located in the center of the Pacific Oceans on a series of volcanic islands that together form the state of Hawaii. There are many percularities of the geographic pointers of the state and it is one of the most important states of the United States since olden days.

 

The Honolulu Harbor was the reason for the city of Honlulu's supreme status in ancient times. The state encompasses a total area of about 10,932 square miles and is located some 200 km southwest of the mainland of the North America. The state of Hawaii is the southernmost state of the United States of America and is the second westernmost state preceded only by Alaska. They are perhaps the only two states of the United States of America that are outside the contiguous United States and do not share their borders with any other state of the country.

It is the only state amongst all the states of the United States who are not geographically located within North America and also is completely surrounded by water. The state has a royal palace and there is not even a single straight line in the boundary of the state of Hawaii.



The state of Hawaii is geologically referred to as the hot spot as it has volcanoes that erupt lava into the sea. The strategic significance of Hawaii for the United States of America is that it forms the point of re supplying the remote outposts of the country' these include Wake Island, Johnston Atoll, American Somoa, Guam and the Philippines.
