History of Hawaii

Hawaii has been through the test of times and although the land is the abode of many volcanic eruptions of the globe there has been little change in the dimensions of the area. However life on the archipelago wasn't always the way it is in these modern times and even now reflections of the past are evident in the gleaming eyes of the natives as well as their identities.

Hawaiian history begins with the advent of human life in the area and records that confirm the presence of human beings date back to 4 century AD although these findings are not devoid of controversy. The earliest inhabitants of the present day state of Hawaii were the Polynesian settlers from the Marquesas, who built small colonies in the state and dwelled there for an indefinite amount of time. The present day culture and language of Hawaii is strongly influenced by the Polynesian traditions and this adds to the distinct flavor of the State of Hawaii.

The next insurgents were the Raiatea and Bora Bora immigrants that came to Hawaii in the 11th century. James Cook was the first European to have set foot on the Hawaiian Islands in the year 1778 and he ended up losing his life because of certain events that took place after his arrival.

Hawaii was part of many other establishments before it got accepted in the union. These were the Vermont Republic, year 1971; Republic of Texas, year 1845; the California Republic, 1846; and Hawai`i. It became part of the United States of America in the year 1959.
