The present day capital city of Honolulu was chosen at the time of establishment of the House of Kamehameha by Kamehameha, the III as it embraces the largest natural harbor of the islands of Hawaii called today as the Honolulu Harbor.
This is one of the most important and beautiful sites in the entire Hawaii and also the place of some of the major events of Hawaiian history. The major towns of Hawaii are namely the Hilo, Kane'ohe, Kailua-Kona, Kailua, Waipahu, Kahului, Pearl City, Kihei and Lihue.
The amazing sites of Hawaii are not only asthetic gems but also of historical significance and some of the structures date back thousands of years and represent the Polynesian culture and architecture at its best. These are perhaps the most authentic remnants of the migratees that are found within the United States of America.
The government of the United States has played a major role in developing travel and tourism in Hawaii and the economy of the local population is heavily dependent on the frequent insurgence of foreigners. In the year 2006 on the 15 th of June the present day President of the United States President George W. Bush proclaimed the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument of Hawaii under the Antiquities Act og 1906.
