Teachers in Hawaii say that the 'No Child' law is faulty

The academic targets of the Makaha Elementary school have been met by the No Child Left Behind law for the second year in a row.

This is a federal law, which has standardized tests at the core of it. According to the principal of the school, Nelson Shigeta, this is very worrisome since too much attention is being placed on this. He says this will make the students into test takers, instead of thinkers. The No Child Left Behind law was passed in the year 2002, and as per the law, every student should be proficient in math and reading by the year 2014.
